Note for tandem teams: Tandem competitors will be racing as a team. Tandem teams must paddle in the same boat. The biking and running events are timed individually and combined into one score. The team with the fastest combined time will be the winner. If one tandem team member drops out the other will be disqualified.
Downriver Segment: Section II of the Wolf River , beginning at Irrigation Ditch and ending at Langlade, has 3 sets of very long rocky Class II rapids mixed with some quietwater. Whitewater kayaks, canoes and inflatables (rafts or inflatable kayaks) are acceptable. Touring kayaks are allowed, but please understand that the water will be rocky and shallow. NO aluminum canoes will be accepted. Kayaks and canoes must be outfitted with properly secured flotation to displace at least 30% of the volume of the craft. Each competitor must wear an ICF or Coast Guard-approved Type III personal flotation device and a helmet.
Mountain Bike Segment: Combination of the South Branch Bike Loop of the Nicolet National Forest and Bear Paw trail systems. The trails will be old logging roads and single track; there will be a short section along the highway at the beginning of the bike segment. Towards the end of this segment are three river crossings to the west side of the Wolf River. Each competitor must wear a helmet.
Off-Road Run: River Right Bank of Section III of the Wolf River . Very rugged terrain.
