Langlade County's diverse combination of large block forest, farmland, and watersheds provides unlimited hunting opportunities. Almost 25,000 acres of territory are open for public hunting. Hunting, as well as many other non-motorized activities, is allowed on all county lands in the County Forest Crop Program, private industrial lands in the Forest Crop Law or Managed Forest Lands Law, and designated State of Wisconsin lands.
These lands can be accessed from any road found on the Official County Road Map. Access beyond these official roads is a matter of rules and policies approved by each entity. Many roads dissect these lands, they are open to foot access, and some are open to motorized access.
The active timber management in Langlade County provides an excellent mixture of wildlife habitat consisting of young aspen forests, mature hardwood forests, and wet-lands. Wildlife available to hunt include big game (deer and bear), small game (ruffed grouse, woodcock, squirrel, rabbit, turkey and waterfowl). Predator hunting is also a big sport in Langlade County with abundant coyote, red fox, and bobcat populations.
